I was in Laventille the other night at the workshop of legendary pan tuner Herman "Guppy" Brown. In this video Guppy is blending the double tenor I've been playing with Skiffle. Incidentally, I'll be bringing this set home with me on Sunday . . . My wife already said it was o.k.

  1. Jeffrey,
Trying to connect with my youth. I lived in Trinidad when I was 11-12 years old 1971,72. Herman Guppy Brown made a set of steel drums and taught my family to play Sister(base) mother (double second) father (treble) and I played tenor. Herman was just a young man starting out in 71. Played back here in the states as a family until late 70's. Many fond memories of our time in Trinidad. Do you have a contact for Guppy? I would love to track him down and find out how to purchase another tenor drum.
